AUSTIN, Texas — Scientists are calling on the U.S. government to change its immigration policies to allow scientists from more than 20 countries to study at the University of Texas at Austin.
The move would allow scientists to study in the U-S., where more than 2,000 U.N. scientists are based.
It’s not yet clear how many U.K. and French scientists would be eligible to study there, but the National Science Foundation estimates the number of scientists working at U.T. is about 5,000.
The Austin Journal of Science and Technology says the U.-S.
move is a step toward better understanding the health effects of the pandemic and that it would allow U.U.S.-based scientists to contribute to the field of medical nanotechnology.
The announcement comes as the U and Canada continue to struggle with the pandemics.
